A gorgeous BC red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the exceptional 2013 vintage. Complex, rich, deep and long: this Canadian flagship wine has it all. A great cellar candidate as well. Taste the very best of what BC (and Canada) can produce from this top-notch winery in a superb vintage.
Meritage food pairings: slow roasted duck or classically prepared roast beef.

|Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:|
For over 20 years Burrowing Owl has been producing some of Canada's finest wines, from the Wine Capital of Canada, Oliver, BC. Their 2013 Meritage (Bordeaux blend) is a blend of 39% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, and 3% Malbec that were hand picked and sorted, then vinified and barrel aged separately for 18 months in a blend of French, Hungarian, American, and Russian oak. By vinifying and barrel aging each variety separately they were able to showcase the full expression of the terroir and achieve the perfect integration of fruit, acid, tannin, and texture in each finished wine thereby contributing additional complexity to the final blend. International wine consultant Alain Sutre, who's played key roles in producing other ultra premium Canadian wines, guided the development and final assemblage of this Meritage and it's nothing short of stunning! On the nose, loads of black currant, blackberry, mocha, cassis, black sage, and a touch of earth. Full bodied with great structure, this wine has been assembled with great care to showcase and integrate all its big components in a harmonious way. It's wines like Burrowing Owl's Meritage, and other premium BC wines with great acclaim, that shows why the Okanagan Valley is becoming increasingly recognized as and positioned to be a fine wine region of the world. Enjoy with grilled beef tenderloin with a rosemary infused Port reduction or a scotch fillet steak with red wine jus - absolutely delicious! Drink 2017-2027+. Tasted May 2017. 94 points. Gorgeous Bordeaux blend. Inky and tangy. Red and black berry, savoury with well integrated baking spices. Well balanced. Tasting well when the 2013 was tasted in August 2017. Paired well with a seared sous-vide rib eye. 94 points. BespokeTastings

Straight out of the Okanagan comes this red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from the hot, dry 2013 vintage.Youthful tannins abound in this dry wine and time in the cellar will tame them. Good medium(+) acidity and loads of red and black fruit, sweet spices, herbs de Provence, cedar and a lingering tannin and cherry finish. This is one for the collector. Perfect gift wine. Age worthy.

|Simon Chen rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:|
This wine is more toward the left bank style. Nose of vegetal, wet wood, green pepper, and toasty oak. Palate is sort of lean, not much fruit, rigid body structure, nice tannin and has a good grip on the finish. A good wine but not so good QPR........
