This blend of aromatic, late-harvest red and white grapes is made in Ontario by slow-pressing then fermenting the grapes. The wine is aged in oak which warps a lovely spicy note around the aromas of clementine, crème brûlée, spicy pear and honey. Pair with spicy dishes and glazed ham with chutney.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Very fragrant on the nose with aromas of pear, orchard fruit, honey, lychee, a touch of ginger, floral notes, and delicate baking spice. It is slightly textured on the palate and round. The orchard fruit, pear, lychee and honey notes carry through and linger on the palate along with clementine and oak notes. Great on its own, it would also pair well with mild indian food or a charcuterie board.

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Black Cellar Amber, made from Vidal blanc and Cabernet Franc, shows exotic aromas of apricot, honeydew melon, orange blossom, honey and caramel. Charming and easy to drink, this wine will be the center of attention due to its unusual amber color and its delicious aromas. Light body with a slight crisp that helps the finish evolve into lingering sweetness. Palate: peach, nectarine, lime, saline, beeswax and brown butter. Enjoy.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Fetching light amber and copper hues defined this non-vintage wine crafted from late harvest grapes. In my glass, clean and fresh aromas of honey dripped stone fruits led to flavour reminiscent of peaches and yellow pair. This creation showed some sweetness and pleasing acidity, too. Pair peach pie and vanilla ice cream with this one. Enjoy.

David Skinner rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Medium golden. The nose shows honey and apricot plus some floral hints. Medium acidity perceived from the late harvest sugars and well balanced. On the palate, honey and oranges with some aromatic spices. A medium finish.

Pair this with some soft cheeses.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Amber is the name on the bottle and colour in the glass! Made from red and white late harvest grapes one would expect a sweeter wine, however this has been fermented to 12 g/l making it versatile as an aperitif, sipper or carefully paired dessert wine. (Remember your wine should be sweeter than your dessert so nothing too sugary)

Aromas of pear and honey. Flavours of ripe pear and apricot with a smooth mouthfeel. Medium white stone fruit finish. Tasted December 29/2020
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A fun orange wine to try! A white wine that has had contact with the grape skins in the wine making process. Pairs well with Mexican or Indian fare - the sweetness in the wine compliments these spicier dishes.
Aromas of clementine, pear, and honey transform into an apricot palate with a zip of lime on the swallow.
Try it at your next Taco Tuesday, and priced right for a Tuesday night wine at under $13.
Tasted January 2021.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

This is a late-harvest blend made from both red and white grapes. Aromas of honey, apricot, and warm spice. Medium bodied, with some hints of caramel honey, and warm citrus. Enjoy with a snack of charcuterie, cheese, and dried fruit.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Medium beige coloured with a pretty, rusty orange hue. Quite aromatic with an engaging bouquet of honeyed peaches, pralines and cream, toast and marmalade, candied orange peels, honey comb and earthy spices. Flavours show a citrus splash of bergamot, caramel and nutmeg spice. Surprisingly, with 12g/L of residual sugar this has a dry mouthfeel with bright acidity. Not as sweet as perceived on the nose. This amber coloured wine is medium bodied with lingering elements of orange peel on the tongue.  This would pair nicely with salty cured meat and roasted game hen. Enjoy! - Tasted December 2020
