Savoury and lip-smacking with juicy acidity and aromas of ripe purple plums and blueberries. Full-bodied, smooth and supple. Made from old vine Tempranillo grapes. Perfect for barbecued meats.

Tempranillo food pairings: veal piccata, meaty pasta and rich tomato sauce, sausage cassoulet.

Reviews and Ratings

Balbas Barrica 5 Meses is a great value under $20, old vines Tempranillo from the Ribera Del Duero wine region. Lots of small red, blue and blackberry fruit flavours, garrigue herbs, cinnamon and cedar spice on this full-bodied red. The wine was aged in American oak barrels for four months. Bodegas Balbás is about 250 years old and is located in the Ribera del Duero. Serve will grilled game sausages. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
