A robust Italian red wine made from the juicy and flavourful Primitivo grape (aka Zinfandel). Smoky campfire wine with fleshy black fruit. Previous vintages of this wine won the Grande Médaille d’Or at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. Full-bodied with a long finish inflected with coffee and mocha notes. Perfect for barbecued blackened ribs with BBQ sauce.

Primitivo food pairings: grilled rare steaks, coq au vin, Cornish game hen, tomato tarte.

Reviews and Ratings

Pam Hatton rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

Deep dark cherry colour to the edge with lots of legs hinting at its high alcohol percentage. A fruity nose of plum, cherry and spices of cinnamon with hints of licorice. Even with 10 years of age in the bottle, the fruit is vibrant and juicy. The palate reveals what was hinted on the nose along with more spice, herbs and vanilla. It is soft in the mouth with hardly any tannins and just enough acidity to keep it from being flabby. Easy drinking and juicy, you might finish your glass quickly, but caution on the 15% alcohol! A lovely medium long finish.
