Beautifully concentrated with a core of hedonistic black cherry liqueur aromas and flavours running through it. Full-bodied, dry, complex and ultimately satisfying. Gutsy and muscular with a fair kick of dark fruit in its heart. Decant for 1 hour. Produced by Alain Jaume & Fils. Pair this beauty with lamb or steak.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb, slow-braised beef ribs, meaty dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Bob Williams rated this wine as 89/100
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Big and juicy! This wine usually plays heavy on the Grenache. There's Shiraz and Mourvedre playing supporting roles here. This wine can be a little heavy on the alcohol, but it is so rich that you pay it no mind. 15% alcohol is probably a conservative guess for this wine.
Glass-coating blackish-ruby. It smells like squashed cherries and berries. Coffee and vanilla wafting in too.
The flavours are intense. Licorice, cherry, boisenberry, wine gums, and a chocolatey finish.
Lirac is a fine place to go for ultra ripe wines. Decant for at least half an hour, cellar short term to enjoy the fruitiness, or serve it blind to Santa Barbara fans. They will love it, surely.
From the Lirac wine region, Alain Jaume & Fils' Clos de Sixte (2015) is a dry, full-bodied red Rhone with a liquid cherry core. So sexy with a full mid-palate of ripe blackberries, cherries, anise and dried herbs. Decant for two hours prior to serving with a prime rib roast, but the wine can easily hold in cellar for another five years. - Community Wine Reviews
