Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A robust ruby red gem of a Bordeaux blend from Yakima Valley, Washington state. Loving the depth and complexity of flavours. Full bodied, big rounded tannins, chewy mouthfeel, well balanced medium plus acidity and fruit. Wet stone minerality with great fruit concentration, notes of blackberry, anise, savoury, baking spices. Pairs well with authentic carne asada beef tacos, or a filet mignon steak. tasted 2015 vintage in December 2018. 90 points
From Yakima Valley in the Columbia Valley, Washington, Airfield Estates 2015 is a well-priced, medium-plus-bodied Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec with savoury herbs and ripe blackberries on the nose. More of the same on the palate with mocha and a toasty lingering finish. The site of a flight school during World War II, Airfield Estate Vineyard was first planted with grapes in 1968 and became one of Washington's original commercial vineyards in 1971. Approachable now. Pair with a crown roast of pork. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
