Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Generous fruit with an almost jammy palate coupled with flavors of mint, smoke, vanilla, plum, cocoa, and a hint of green bell pepper. Lengthy smoke on the finish. Great value wine at just under $14. Enjoy with a plate of homemade pasta in a tomato sauce with sausage and eggplant. Tasted October 2017.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Floral aromatics; violet, peony and cherry blossom. Cherry, cassis, kirsch liqueur, cooked strawberries, tobacco and cayenne pepper heat with a hint of burnt toffee. Flavours are profound with chocolate covered cherries, caramel, red berry jam, smoky vanilla and fruit chutney. Medium plus acidity and body with soft tannins. Well integrated with a fruity finish. Pair with maple glazed ham and bacon garnished Brussels sprouts. - Tasted January 2018
12 E Mezzo (2015) is a Primitivo Del Salento from the Puglia wine region. 12 E Mezzo is a new brand for the Varvaglione family with a more modern approach to wine and created by Marzia, Angelo and Francesca, the 3 “under 30” children of the Varvaglione family. Varvaglione Vigne & Vini has been producing wine since 1921. The company has 1,500 hectares cultivated by the local farmers that have been affiliated to Vigne & Vini for over 30 years. Look for ripe dark berry flavours all wrapped up in smoke and spice on this well-priced red. - Community Wine Reviews
