Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Where's the beef?!
Deep ruby and full bodied with powerful aromas of dark cherry, cassis, black raspberry, strawberry, violet, tobacco leaf, leather, garrigue, charred cedar, fennel, eucalyptus. Flavours are pronounced with the addtion of graphite, black earth, cloves, juniper, cinnamon, plum.
A truly complex wine with balancing acidity and tannins that will carry into 2017/18.
Pair with Prime Rib roast, AAA Alberta beef on the BBQ. Lightly sprinkled with sea salt. No Barbecue sauce required. Just taste the meat and wine.
Tasted: April 2014
Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby in colour, this rich red has layers of dark fruit, sweet spices, cedar, cloves, smoke, chocolate, and mint. The wine's medium plus body is balanced with mouthwatering acidity and tannic grip.
Drink now, or cellar until 2017.
Pair with finer cuts of beef or lamb.
Date tasted: April 2014.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Ruby red. Aromas of ripe red and black fruits mingling with tar and menthol undertones, balanced by wood notes evoking vanilla and toast. Its vigorous flavours, ripe tannins and majestic body conclude in a complex and persistent finish.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.

Gary Vaynerchuck, Wine Library TV
