Trapiche Reserve Pinot Grigio 2016, Mendoza, Argentina: Fresh and crisp Argentina white wine made from the Pinot Grigio grape, though leaning more to the drier style of Pinot Gris than the fruitier style of Pinot Grigio. Lovely floral notes along with Asian pear and quince. The grapes are grown in a high altitude area of the Mendoza River. Pair with fresh seafood and sushi. Peter Lehmann Wines Futures Shiraz 2014, Barossa, South Australia, Australia: This truly shows the pedigree of the Barossa region. The grapes come from de-classified Stonewell parcels (the flagship wine), so this is a steal at $30. The wine is aged 30% in new French oak barrels for 14-16 months. Peter Lehmann Wines Portrait Shiraz 2014, Barossa, Australia: Juicy black and purple plums aromas and flavours. Very rich and concentrated. The grapes come from an elevated region of the Barossa Valley and express that cooler vibrancy in the wine. Aromas of dark chocolate and black plum. This is a terrific wine, especially for the price. Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz 2012, Coonawarra, South Australia, Australia: This is what elegance and restraint tastes like from Australia: French grammar school, Australian graduate studies by the consummate gentleman winemaker Peter Gago. This wine was matured for a year in French oak, 26% of which was new. Lovely aromas of mint, cassis, blackcurrant and blackberry with just enough toasty warmth from the oak. La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva 2007, Rioja D.O.C.A., Spain: The spectacular 2007 vintages of Viña Ardanza Reserva is drinking beautifully right now! This is a robust Spanish red wine blend of mostly Tempranillo grapes and 20% Garnacha. This winery was established in 1980 and is celebrating 125 vintages of winemaking.
