Always a crowd-pleaser, this vintage is juicy with a mouthful of ripe blackberry, blueberry, cocoa and baking spice flavours with a gentle smoky finish. Nicely done! Drink or hold. Trivento Golden Reserve Malbec 2021, Luján De Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina: From the Luján De Cuyo, Mendoza wine region, Trivento Gold Reserve 2021 is a dry, medium-plus-bodied, vegan-friendly Malbec and just superb value at $21. Grapes were mostly sourced from third-party vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo, from Vistalba, Las Compuertas, Agrelo and Perdriel. Big and juicy with a mouthful of fresh and ripe blackberry, blueberry, dark plum, violets, chocolate, spicy flavours and balanced with vibrant acidity. Tannins are grippy and textured, so do decant the wine for one hour prior to enjoying it with meats from the grill or a meaty sausage casserole. Villa Maria Estate Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: A vibrant Sauvignon Blanc that shows the extra richness and layering of about four months aging on the lees.Still, there's no oak here, just stainless steel to preserve fruit purity. The Autri Valley where the fruit is grown for this wine is cooler on average than other regions in New Zealand. This Sauvignon has more intensity and more seriousness in both flavour and weight.
