Trivento Amado Sur Malbec Bonarda Syrah 2010, Mendoza, Argentina: This wine is a blend of 80% Malbec, 10% Bonarda and 10% Syrah grapes that was matured for a year in oak. Black fruit, smoke and tar. Crios Dominio Del Plata S.A. Torrontés 2012, Argentina, Argentina: A profusion of white flowers and happiness on the nose. Just the right amount of acidity for almost all dishes, except maybe steak. Lively and pretty on the palate with another field of white flowers. This also works nicely as an aperitif on a sunny patio as the sun warms your shoulders. Have another sip. Life is beautiful. St. Hallett Gamekeeper's Shiraz Grenache 2010, Barossa Valley, Australia: Baked cherries and kirsch on the nose with a warm, peppery finish. Full-bodied and tasty. Great value. This winery has been making classic wine in the heart of the Barossa Valley since 1944. In Australia, this blend of Shiraz and Grenache grapes along with a dash of the flagship Portuguese grape Touriga Nacional is called the Gamekeeper’s Reserve. Tommasi Arele Parziale Appassimento 2011, I.G.T., Veronese, Italy: Love the black pepper juiciness of this red! Fleshy black cherries with some tart blackberries mingled in. Absolutely delicious! The grapes for this wine dried for a month, in the traditional method. This gives incredible intensity and depth to the wine. The traditional Corvina and Oseleta grapes are used in the blend. The Grinder Pinotage 2011, W.O., Swartland, South Africa: Loaded with black pepper, dark spices, coffee, mocha and savoury dark fruit aromas. There's a seductive juiciness on the palate with full-bodied weight. Black plum and anise on the smoky finish. Highly recommended. Pair with rib roast or grilled pork chops.
