Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2013, South Australia, Australia: A rich, complex, full-bodied red wine blend of 51% Cabernet and 49% Shiraz grapes from one of Australia's best producers. Black cherry liqueur aromas and flavours on the nose and mid-palate. The grapes are grown in Wrattonbully, Barossa, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Robe regions. The wine was matured 12 months in American oak hogshead barrels, of which 40% were new. Penfold's Bin 389 is sometimes referred to fondly as "Baby Grange" as sells for a fraction of the winery's flagship Grange, but still demonstrates superb craftsmanship in the hands of chief winemaker Peter Gago and his team.
