Borsao Berola 2014, Campo de Borja D.O., Spain: Borsao Berola 2014 is a full-bodied Spanish red wine blend of 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French and American oak. The Grenache wine grapes for this wine were planted in 1956, the Cabernet Sauvignon in 1990, and the Syrah in 2003. On the palate, there is more ripe, dark fruit, with smoke, garrigue herbs, earthy florals and spicy flavours. Very approachable now. Berola is the original name for the 12th century monastery of Veruela when the land was first granted to Cistercian monks to tend and plant as vineyards.
