Susana Balbo Signature Malbec 2019, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina: From the Uco Valley, Mendoza wine region, Susana Balbo Signature 2019 Malbec has a splash of Petit Verdot added to the mix and is so rich and pure of fruit. Fragrant with ripe blueberry, mulberry, vanilla and smoky aromas on the nose. Deep ruby in the glass with ripe dark berry, plum, clove, pepper spice, smoky vanilla flavours vibrant on the palate. Foncalieu St. Gervais Réserve Du Crouzau 2012, Côtes Du Rhône-Villages A.C., France: Full-bodied and richly layered and smooth with lots of fleshy black fruit and some smoke on the finish. Awesome party wine. Previous vintages of this wine have been awarded the Gold Medal at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. This robust red is primarily made from the enticing Grenache grape. La Ferme du Mont Première Côte 2015, Côtes Du Rhône, Rhône A.P., France: Savoury with dried herbs and a firm tannic grip on the palate so decant 1-2 hours. Stéphan Vedeau produced this robust southern French red wine blend that's a typical GSM, mostly Grenache, with about a third Syrah and the remainder Mourvèdre grapes. He's a third generation winemaker from Cotes Du Rhone. His wines are all organic products, free of chemicals and pesticides, the fertilizers are organic and he uses ambient or natural yeasts to ferment the wines. The wine was matured concrete tanks for 12 months. The vines are planted on the eastern slopes near the town of Courthezon, which lies along the eastern border of Châteauneuf du Pape in the Rhone. La Ferme du Mont Le Ponnant 2015, Côtes Du Rhône-Villages, Rhône A.P., France: Balanced, full-bodied and savoury delicious. Although Grenache leads in the blend at 80%, there's also 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes in this cuvee. Winemaker Stéphane Vedeau lovingly brings forward luscious fruit flavours that Syrah adds to this red wine blend from the Rhone Valley. Robust and smooth yet it has terrific concentration and complexity. Savoury with satisfying aromas and flavours of black cherry and cedar forest floor. Attractive notes of black raspberry, violets and wild brush on the mid-palate. A powerful red wine from the Rhone Valley, with seriously rich and fleshy ripe brandied cherry aromas and flavours. Chevalier Monopole Brut Dry Rosé Sparkling, Burgundy A.C., France: I almost don't want to review this one as I'd rather hoard it for myself all summer long. Yet again, I will throw myself on the flames of self-sacrifice. This is freakin amazing. Gorgeous rosè. Is the price a typo? Fresh strawberries drying after a summer rain on a July afternoon. Torres Altos Ibéricos Crianza Tempranillo 2014, Rioja D.O.C.A., Spain: A superb Spanish red wine, especially at this price point! Full-bodied, rich and layered with aromas of black fruit, dark spice, earth and toast. This robust Spanish red wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes, the country's flagship red wine varietal. The wine was matured for 12 months in oak barrels followed by prolonged bottle aging before being released from the winery. Pair with game meats. Serve at 17-18 degrees Celsius.
