Finca Flichman Expresiones Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Argentina: This bi-varietal wine is a blend of Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) blend that spends 8 months in American and French oak, which imparts depth and richness to the wine, along with toasty oak and vanilla smoke aromas. This winery sources all of its grapes from estate vineyards and the harvesting is done by hand. Lots of dark fruit to fill out all the spaces in this wine. Rich and fleshy black and purple plum flavours on this finish along with sweet vanilla spice. A crowd pleaser. Pair with hamburgers dressed with all the fixin's. Drink: 2015-2020. 17111 14.50% XD 750 mL $15.95 Score: 89/100. February 18, 2017

Bodega del Abad Dom Bueno Crianza 2008, Bierzo D.O., Spain: Lovely mature flavours of tanned leather, violets and cigar box. Not fruity. Love this lots more than the other, "younger" Abad Bierzo wine in this release from 2008. Somewhat like mature Rioja without the markup.
