Winemaker Susana Balbo is one of the most respected names in the Argentine wine industry. This particular Malbec has a great finish. Pair with lamb chops. Great price. Yalumba The Strapper Gsm Named Varietal Blends-Red 2011, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia: This is an incredible robust red wine for the price! Full-bodied, lusciously rich and deep with a terrific long finish. Aromas of fleshy sweet dark fruit, a hint of pepper and savoury goodness. Mouth-watering and delicious. terrific with grilled pork shops, beef or lamb with rosemary. The Grenache in the blend gives this wine an extra richness, while the Mataro lends rustic tannins and the Shiraz, fleshy fruit. Featherstone Winery Black Sheep Riesling 2014, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Featherstone's Black Sheep Riesling stands shoulder to shoulder (ear to ear) with the best of Niagara Rieslings. This is one of my favourite Niagara Rieslings: delightful every vintage. The 2014 vintage is no exceptional with lovely bright notes of lime blossom, lemon zest and flint. Pair with fresh seafood and vegetarian dishes. This Ontario white wine offers great refreshment in the glass. Featherstone's Black Sheep Riesling stands shoulder to shoulder (ear to ear) with the best of Niagara Rieslings. Mouth-watering juiciness with vibrant notes of tropical tree fruit. Full-bodied and deeply savoury. Wow, so different: love it! Violets, black plum, deep dive black raspberry into a heart of welling darkness and satisfaction. Platonic ideal of concentration and depth with a long, sensuous finish that leaves you bathed in flavour satisfaction. Pair with hearty meat dishes and deep conversations. Produced by Domaine Lafage, this robust Rhone red wine from 2013 vintage of this Cotes du Roussillon Chimeres is a blend of mostly Grenache and Syrah grapes, with a splash of Carignan. This AC-designated wine features brooding black fruit, dark spices and intrigue. What a great price for such quality, especially from such an iconic winemaker as Chapoutier. La Pieve Barolo 2009, D.O.C.G., Piedmont, Italy: This full-bodied red wine offers enticing aromas of dark fruit, tar, toasty and spice. Barolo wines are rarely priced this affordably, so give this this Piedmont, Nebbiolo-based grape wine a try. The tannins are firm and there will be plenty of fruit here to bring balance. A real gripper but I like it! Big, black with a tarry streak through the middle. Black cherry resistance and some dark spices. Perfect for black magic nights. Speri Pigaro Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2012, Veneto D.O.C., Italy: Attractive dark cherry nose with a hint of smoke. Full-bodied and supple and lip-smacking delicious Italian red wine. Try it with combination pizza or spicy sausages. Nice finish. The Speri Family has been making wine for more than 150 years with the fifth generation of the family now at the helm. Momo Pinot Gris 2014, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: This spritely organic wine makes my mouth water just smelling it! Lovely white peach and melon with mouth-watering acidity for food. Very refreshing as an aperitif or companion to many dishes from seafood to salads. Classic aromas and flavours here for a cool climate region. Some toasted almond on the finish. Great wine for potluck gatherings and barbecues -- think grilled veggies and portobello mushrooms. Yum! Momo is the second label of New Zealand's Seresin Estate, and the quality shows in the glass of this zesty, organic Pinot Gris. A fresh finish with terrific food versatility. Rotllán Torra Vina D'alta Qualitat 2010, Priorat D.O.C., Spain: This Spanish Crianza is savoury and juicy with great complexity and depth. Smooth and full-bodied with lusciously ripe and fleshy dark berries. If you haven't tried many wines from the Priorat region of Spain, this is a great place to start. La Crema Pinot Noir 2013, Sonoma Coast, California, United States: Fleshy cherry and dark spice with a long, naughty finish on this California Pinot Noir. Medium-bodied and satin smooth like lingerie. A supple red wine with cherry-berry mouth-filling wonder and flavours. Just enough oak for hedonists. Layered yet not heavy. This pinot has been one of my favourites for years. Satin seduction in a glass. This wine is actually made by a Canadian, the Niagara Falls native Elizabeth Grant-Douglas who as a child helped her father with his backyard vineyard. She then became a member of the first graduating class of Brock University's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture program. Pair with roasted turkey or chicken.
