Cave Spring Cabernet Franc 2013, Niagara Escarpment Ontario VQA, Canada: One of the best Ontario Cabernet Franc wines I've ever tasted. Rich, full-bodied with layers of dark plums, smoke and mocha. Beautifully balanced, with a sweet chocolate note on the finish, though this wine is dry. That extra kicks just makes it more luscious and delicious. Pair with grilled pork chops or lamb. Talamonti Montepulciano 2013, Abruzzo, Italy: Tre Saggi is a delicious, toasty red wine from Montepulciano. Loaded with black fruit and dark spice. Rich, dark and savoury with black cherries and smoke and lots of mocha and sweet chocolate notes. Full-bodied and luxuriously thick like a comforting blanket you wrap closer to you on a chilly night under a starry sky by the campfire. Great structure and balance. A great party wine that won’t cost a fortune. Plus the label looks like it cost twice as much as you paid for it ;) Tre Saggi translates to "three wise men" and both wise men and women will be smart to try this wine.
