Young Brute 2014, Wrattonbully, Australia: A juicy, robust, smooth Australian red wine blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes produced by the Casella family. Loaded with flavours of fleshy ripe purple and black plums, blueberries and toasty oak (but not too muck). Mouth-watering and mouth-filling: this wine packs a punch without being overpowering, which is quite remarkable for a young brute. A terrific regional expression of Wrattonbully which experience a windy but dry spring followed by a hot summer in 2014 for tremendous depth of ripening and flavour. A luscious finish with some eculypt and dark spice. Pair with a juicy steak or hamburgers. Drink: 2014-2017. 434654 14% D 750 mL  $18.95 Score: 89/100. February 7, 2017 Best Value Red Wine. Chateau Bellevue La Forêt 2011, Fronton, Southwest, France: This robust, well-priced French red wine comes to us via Philip Grant, Propriétaire. The wine is mostly made from the Negrette grape and offers lip-smacking delicious flavours of dark fruit and cedar brush. Decant 1 hours and try it with a juicy steak tonight. Toscolo Chianti Classico 2013, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: Lots of smoke, cigar, toasty oak and warm acidity on this robust Tuscan red wine. Aromas of black cherry and chary tobacco. Pair with smoked meats. Drink: 2014-2018. 19521 12.50% XD 750 mL  $18.95 Score: 90/100. March 5, 2016 Best Value Red Wine. Magnificent Meat Pizza Wine Full Review
Bodega del Abad Crianza 2006, Bierzo D.O., Spain: Lovely mature flavours of tanned leather, violets and cigar box. Not fruity. Love this lots more than "younger" Crianzas. Somewhat like mature Rioja without the markup. The Bierzo region of Spain has recently reinvested itself and emerged as a modern producer of a very traditional grape, Mencia. This wine finished with black, mocha and spice. Try it with light curry dishes. Drink: 2012-2017. 244699 13.60% XD 750 mL  $16.95 Score: 90/100. March 7, 2016 Best Value Red Wine. Calm Curry Wine Full Review
Monasterio de las Viñas Reserva 2006, Cariñena D.O., Spain: Brought to us by Grandes Vinos Y Viñedos and San José de Aguarón, this is a great wine for the price point! Juicy, full-bodied, savoury and smooth. Aromas of cedar and black cherry. Great pick for a potluck gathering or movie night. It would also be terrific with cold cuts and hard cheeses. Drink: 2012-2017. 166579 13% XD 750 mL  $16.95 Score: 89/100. March 19, 2016 Best Value Red Wine. Harmonious Hard Cheese Wine Full Review
