Jim Jim Hugh Hamilton Shiraz 2012, South Australia, Australia: This robust red wine is named in honour of the winery’s faithful dog, Jimmy. Lovely Aussie shiraz with black fruit, generous oak and full-bodied heft. Some mint and pepper on the finish. The Down-Underdog is the second-label Shiraz from Hugh Hamilton winery, and among a pack of playful per names such as “The Villain,” “The Scoundrel,” and “Jekyll & Hyde.” Pair with gourmet burgers. Drink: 2013-2018. 682005 14.50% D 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 89/100. January 26, 2016 Best Value Red Wine. Luscious Lamb Wine Full Review
Château Blaignan 2010, Médoc, Bordeaux A.C., France: Lots of toasty oak and hickory smoke on the nose of this robust, rustic red wine. This Cabernet blend from Bordeaux is well-priced. It gets a bit thinner on the palate than the nose would lead you to believe but is nonetheless good value. Drink: 2015-2019. 400606 13.50% XD 750 mL  $23.95 Score: 89/100.
