Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Marlborough, New Zealand: A vibrant Sauvignon Blanc with a crisp, lime-fresh nose and racy acidity on the palate that's perfect for seafood. Notes of grapefruit and fresh herbs on the finish makes this a terrific chilled aperitif as well. Highly recommended. Drink: 2015-2017. 426601 12.50% XD 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 90/100. October 10, 2016 Best Value White Wine. Sensational Shellfish Wine Full Review
Villa Maria Southern Clays Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Gorgeous tropical fruit and wild thyme on the nose of this flinty, mineral-rich Sauvignon Blanc. The juice and skins for this wine sit together in the press before pressing so that the wine picks up the flavour precursors and becomes more complex. Dry ice covers the juice to prevent oxidation during this phase. Terrific flavour extracvtion without heaviness. Aromas of grapefruit, smoke and lime. Pair with smoked salmon. Drink: 2014-2017. 388405 13% XD 750 mL  $29.95 Score: 92/100. October 30, 2015 Top Rated White Wine. Scrumptious Seafood Wine Full Review
Villa Maria Estate Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Another delicious, mouth-watering Sauvignon Blanc from Villa Maria! This is classic Marlborough SB, with aromas of freshly cut grass and herbs. The 2015 was one of the strongest in history for the region and it shows in this wine. Pair pan-friesh white fish. Drink: 2015-2017. 974527 13% D 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 91/100. February 18, 2017 Best Value White Wine. Scrumptious Seafood Wine Full Review
Villa Maria East Coast Pinot Gris 2015, Hawkes Bay, North Island, New Zealand: New Zealand's climate is similar to that of Alsace in France, so it's not surprising that this Pinot Gris has Alsatian leanings in its steely dryness and focus. This is an off-dry style yet vibrant acidity keeps it refreshing and food-friendly. Aromas of white pear and golden apple. Rich, mouth-filling texture. Pair with poultry and creamy cheeses. Drink: 2015-2018. 925577 14% XD 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 91/100. October 30, 2015 Top Rated White Wine. Full Review
Villa Maria Private Bin Pinot Noir 2014, Marlborough, New Zealand: The silky tannins and gorgeous mouth-feel of this seductive Pinot Noir strike me most. That's followed by bright red berry and cherry aromas on the palate and finish. There's no first use oak on this wine, only second use oak and stainless steel to preserve freshness. Pair with mature, hard cheeses. Drink: 2014-2018. 146548 13.50% D 750 mL  $21.95 Score: 90/100. January 8, 2017 Top Rated Red Wine. Delightful Duck Wine Full Review
Villa Maria Cellar Selection Pinot Noir 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: A more serious and concentrated Pinot Noir than the Private Bin, this Cellar Selection offers a lot of pleasure. Aromas of dark cherry, plum and spice and dried herbs. The winemaker uses about 10-20% new French oak on this wine so as not to overpower the fruit. Grannier tannin profile, yet perfumed and easy-drinking. Pair it with wild boar. Drink: 2014-2018. 285361 14% D 750 mL  $32.95 Score: 91/100. October 30, 2015 Top Rated Red Wine. Splendid Salad Wine Full Review
Villa Maria Private Bin Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Marlborough, New Zealand: This is just the third year that Villa Maria has produced this delightful, lightly sparkling wine. It's an interesting (and delicious) take on Sauvignon Blanc, for which New Zealand is famous. Tropical fruit and melon on the nose and palate. If you love moscato, try this wine. The bubbles don't dry out on the finish, yet it's refreshing. Perfect as an aperitif or companion to seafood. Drink: 2015-2017. 429969 12.50% M 750 mL  $69.50 Score: 89/100. February 18, 2017 Best Value Sparkling Wine. Scrumptious Seafood Wine Full Review
Villa Maria Cellar Selection Pinot Gris 2015, Marlborough, New Zealand: A lovely, white floral Pinot Gris with fresh pear and orange zest on the palate and finish. This wine won Silver in the Spiegelau International Wine Competition. Pair with medium spicy dishes for maximum pleasure. Drink: 2015-2017. 12.50% XD 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 91/100. April 27, 2016 Top Rated White Wine. Full Review
Villa Maria Estate Southern Clay’s Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012, Marlborough, New Zealand: This is a heart-stopper -- what a spectacular Pinot Noir on all dimensions: aroma, flavour, depth, length and complexity. Spicy forest floor notes on the nose, almost feral and exciting. Earthiness comes through on the palate with mouth-filling richness. The wine was aged in 30% new French oak for 8 months. The vines grow in heavy clay soils that release heat slowly at night compared to stones. Clay also retains more moisture so the vines struggle. There's a rising crescendo of pleasure on the finish -- and of longing (for more). Drink: 2014-2019. 13% XD 750 mL  $59.95 Score: 95/100. October 30, 2015 Top Rated Red Wine. Full Review
