Fleshy black plum, minty aromas in this red wine wonder. Walk down this tunnel of sensory pleasure ... brush your taste buds against the walls of caressing black fruit flavour. Smooth, deep, rich. This is definitely a Margaret River Shiraz Cabernet is worth trying, not just for the cool climate nuances but also for the rich layers of black fruit and dark spice. Pair with prime rib. Trio Reserva Concha Y Toro Merlot Carmenère Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Rapel Valley, Chile: This full-bodied Chilean red wine offers vibrant aromas and flavours purple plums. Smooth and gulpable. Great price. Great for pizza. Originally, winery owner Don Melchor de Concha y Toro married French woman, Emiliana Subercaseaux, who owned a vineyard planted with Bordeaux vines. Concha y Toro Reserva 2012, Maipo Valley, Chile: Concha Y Toro produces this robust red wine of extraordinary value/taste for the money! Mocha and dark chocolate aromas wrap themselves seductively around a core of fleshy blackberry fruit. Full-bodied and smooth. This wine is a blend of three grapes, thus “Trio”, including Cabernet Sauvignon (70% of the blend), Shiraz and Cabernet Franc. Finishes with some lovely cassis and pepper notes. Perfect party wine! Tedeschi Capitel Nicalò Appassimento Valpolicella Superiore 2013, Veneto D.O.C.G., Italy: A full-bodied juicy Italian red wine with lots of heft and mouth-filling flavour. Dark cherry and black plum, almost prune on the nose of this D.O.C. wine. Good value. This is one of the best producers of ripasso. Featuring aromas of coffee and black cherry. Goats do Roam The Goatfather 2013, Coastal Region W.O., South Africa: Juicy purple and black plum aromas with dark spice. Happy, straight-up pleasure in a glass. Full-bodied, but not heavy. This wine is a non-traditional blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes. Some terrific notes of cherry and blackberry on the finish. Ménage à Trois Red 2012, California, United States: Fleshy black raspberry and cherry on the nose of this terrifically tasty Californian red wine blend of Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Napa Valley, California, United States: A balanced wine and a great value. This is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot and Zinfandel grapes in the blend. Dark fruit aromas are wrapped in toasty oak. Nice symmetry and balance with full-bodied weight. Gets my vote!
