Ricasoli Brolio Bettino Chianti Classico 2022, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: Ricasoli Brolio Bettino Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. from Tuscany is a dry, medium-bodied Sangiovese that opens with a lively, perfumed nose of tart cherry, dried violet, pomegranate, orange zest, and a thread of wild herbs and earthy spice. On the palate it is fresh and crunchy, with firm yet finely polished tannins, a bright acid backbone, and a core of red berry fruit woven through with savory mineral depth and a lingering, characterful finish of dried fig and black tea. Serve at room temperature and enjoy from 2026 through 2036 as this wine has the structure and freshness to reward patience. Technical director Massimiliano Biagi, working under the direction of Baron Francesco Ricasoli, the 32nd generation of the family at Castello di Brolio, crafts this wine from estate-grown Sangiovese fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak tonneaux. The wine is named in honour of Baron Bettino Ricasoli, the so-called "Iron Baron" who served twice as Prime Minister of unified Italy and who in the 19th century spent thirty years experimenting to develop the original Sangiovese-led formula for Chianti, a contribution so influential it became the blueprint for the entire appellation. Pair it with a slow-simmered spaghetti and meatball ragu, where the wine's bright acidity and cherry fruit cut through the richness of the sauce with effortless precision, or serve it alongside a Bistecca alla Fiorentina, letting the wine's firm tannins and mineral edge rise to meet the sear of the char-grilled steak. Drink: 2026-2036. 630939 13.40% XD 750 mL  $28.95 Score: 93/100. April 11, 2026 Magnificent Meat Pizza Wine Full Review
San Felice Il Grigio Chianti Classico 2022, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: San Felice Il Grigio Riserva Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. from Tuscany is a dry, medium to full-bodied 100% Sangiovese with an elegant and precise nose of tart red cherry, dried violet, wild strawberry, stony minerality, and a thread of wild herbs and tobacco leaf that builds beautifully with air. On the palate it is poised and focused, with dusty, well-integrated tannins, bright tangy acidity, and a long, layered finish of dark berry fruit, earthy depth, and a whisper of warm spice. Serve at room temperature and enjoy from 2025 through 2033, though decanting for an hour will reward patience even now. Head winemaker Leonardo Bellaccini, who has guided San Felice for nearly four decades and was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione designation in 2014, crafts this Riserva from a careful selection of the finest Sangiovese grapes on the estate, maturing the wine in large Slavonian oak casks and French oak barriques to build complexity while preserving the variety's natural vibrancy. San Felice is also a pioneering estate in the history of Italian wine: in the late 1960s it produced Vigorello, the first wine in all of Chianti Classico made exclusively from red grapes, a wine now considered the true forerunner of the entire Super Tuscan category. Pair it with a bruschetta pizza topped with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, and fresh basil, where the wine's bright cherry acidity and earthy spice will complement every tangy, herb-scented bite, or serve it alongside a zucchini and red onion pizza with a drizzle of good olive oil, letting the wine's minerality and wild herb character echo the simplicity of the toppings. Drink: 2025-2033. 716266 13% XD 750 mL  $29.95 Score: 94/100. April 11, 2026 Great Goat Cheese Wine Full Review

Cune 2020, Rioja D.O.C.A., Spain: From Rioja Alta, Cune's Reserva is a polished, classically structured blend led by Tempranillo alongside Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo, aged up to 18 months in a thoughtful combination of American and French oak barrels that lends the wine its signature warmth and elegance. Deep garnet in the glass, it opens with dried plum, dark raspberry, a ribbon of pipe tobacco, and subtle notes of leather and crushed violets, with earthy, herb-laced undertones that speak unmistakably of Rioja. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, dry, and beautifully balanced with velvety well-knit tannins and a clean, lingering finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature and enjoy now through 2034, as this wine has the structure and depth to reward patience. Bodegas CVNE was founded in 1879 and remains one of Rioja's most storied family-owned estates, with current winemaker María Larrea guiding its wines with a steady, tradition-honoring hand. Pair it with slow-smoked lamb chops glazed with rosemary and garlic, where the wine's earthy depth and firm structure will complement the richness of the meat beautifully, or enjoy it alongside a hearty mushroom and caramelized onion flatbread topped with aged manchego for a satisfying, rustic match.
