Alamos Selección Malbec 2014, Uco Valley, Argentina: A robust red with great depth and complexity at an excellent price point. Syrah add so much character to this blend with fleshy blackberries and cherries. It's full-bodied, balanced and smooth. Perfect for grilled meats and hard cheeses. Highly recommended. Luigi Bosca Familia Arizu Malbec 2015, Mendoza, Argentina: A terrific Argentine red wine made from the country's classic Malbec grape. Smoky with lots of toasty oak on the nose and palate. Black fruit with campfire on the finish. The grapes are grown in the Finca La Linda and Vistalba vineyards in Mendoza. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Apothic Inferno Red 2015, California, United States: This small batch Californian red wine blend was aged in whiskey barrels for 60 days. This lends this wine aromas and flavours of smoke, toast, spice, brown sugar and toffee. Full-bodied. The wine is aged in bourbon barrels rather than the oak usually used to age wine from France, Hungary or the US (but not bourbon oak). The bourbon oak staves (panels or strips of wood) impart a maple spice finish. This clocks in at a hefty 16% alcohol. Pair with hamburgers with relish.
