Black cherry and violets on the nose and plenty more on the palate with good acidity and a long finish that keeps you interested and wanting more. Yes, it is pricey. And you are worth it. Such an exotic nose of wild violets, feral underbrush, truffle haunted forests and a mysterious smile of satisfaction. This Brunello has many years ahead of it, unless of course, you can't resist drinking it. A DOCG wine that has such lovely replays of flavour across the palate, including coffee, spice, mocha and dark berry. This robust red wine cries out for a hearty meat dish. Primus The Blend 2014, Colchagua Valley, Chile: Chocolate and mocha from oak aging with some sweet blackberry flavours. This full-bodied Chilean red wine is just dripping with fleshy berry flavour and plums with some real vibrancy and lift on the mid-palate. This wine is a blend of about a third cabernet sauvignon, a third syrah, and the balance split between merlot and carmenere grapes. Superb craftsmanship; great value. The Foreign Affair Winery Pinot Noir 2012, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Winemakers Len and Marisa Crispino use the traditional Valpolicella method of appassimento which involves drying grapes before pressing to concentrate flavour and body, along with alcohol. They bought land in Niagara in 2000. The 2012 Pinot has 20% dried grapes. The wine is then matured for 16 months on the lees in French oak barrels. This doesn't taste or feel like typical Pinot Noir, usually light- to medium-bodied. However it is its own delicious animal. Pair with grilled chicken.
