Zuccardi Q Malbec 2015, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina: A fleshy ripe Malbec with a touch of dark spice on the finish. Full-bodied and smooth. Great price for such quality. This wine was matured in French oak for 1 year. Lovely cedar and spice on the finish. Try it tonight with asado, the traditional Argentine outdoor barbecue, usually with beef. Whitehaven Pinot Noir 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: This medium-bodied New Zealand red wine is satin smooth and tickles the senses. Juicy, fleshy bright cherries and dark chocolate dance across your senses with this pinot noir. Ultra-supple and sensuous. Amazingly great price for a flagship wine. Cloudy Bay put New Zealand on the wine map for its Sauvignon Blanc, but this Pinot Noir holds its own and deserves its own shining place in the wine world. 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Columbia Valley, Washington, United States: Aromas of coffee, mocha and spice as well as fleshy blackberry. The wine is aged in American oak barrels for 14 months and that that provide a rich/sweet frame and carry the tannins to an excellent place of balance. The wine is very approachable. The horses on the label are a tribute to the wild horses that once roamed the Hose Heaven Hills wine region. They were approximately 14 hands tall: small but sturdy and strong, known for their unbridled strength and freedom. Pair with a rare steak. Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb, turkey.
