Tawse Winery Inc. Méritage 2011, V.Q.A., Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada: The 2011 was a tough vintage for Niagara, and for this Meritage from Tawse, which has performed better in previous vintages. This is a blend of 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc grapes, and is aged 18 months in small French oak barrels. Some notes of dark fruit and toasty oak. You can order this wine directly from the winery at www.tawsewinery.ca. Méritage food pairings: rare steaks, beef.
