Red Wine
Pesquié Édition 1912M 2023, Ventoux, Rhône A.O.C., France: Pesquié Édition 1912M Ventoux is a dry, medium-bodied blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault that pours a bright ruby and opens with a fragrant, lifted nose of sun-warmed pomegranate, dried sour cherry and lavender blossom, woven through with scrubby hillside herbs and a gentle grind of black pepper. The palate is vibrant and energetic, with a juicy core of red-toned fruit, silky tannins and refreshing acidity that carry through to a clean, mineral-edged finish, all shaped entirely in stainless steel to preserve every nuance of the mountain terroir. Serve it slightly below room temperature and drink now through 2028. Brothers Alexandre and Frédéric Chaudière, who took the reins of this certified organic family estate in 2003, named this cuvée in homage to the summit of the dramatic Mont Ventoux, which towers 1,912 metres above the surrounding Provençal landscape and is known locally as the Giant of Provence. The vineyards cling to clay and limestone terraces at around 300 metres altitude, where cool nights and warm days give this Grenache-led blend a vivid freshness that sets it apart from lower-lying southern Rhône reds. Try it alongside a slow-cooked pork and lentil stew with smoked paprika, where the wine's herbal brightness lifts every earthy spoonful, or pair it with a grazing board of cured saucisson and cornichons for an effortlessly French evening. Food pairings: lentil and pork stew, roasted game meats, charcuterie. Drink: 2025 - 2028 636159 14.5% XD 750 mL $16.95 Score: 90/100. May 2026. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
White Wine
Lighthall Riesling 2023, Prince Edward County, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Lighthall Riesling from Prince Edward County V.Q.A., Ontario is a beautifully aromatic, off-dry white with a low alcohol of 10.5%, grown on 63 acres of limestone-rich vineyards using a low-intervention approach that lets the land do the talking. The nose is lifted and expressive, offering honeysuckle blossom, ripe yellow plum, starfruit, and a cool thread of crushed limestone that is unmistakably Prince Edward County. A touch of residual sugar rounds the palate without ever feeling heavy, while a zippy, nervy acidity keeps everything taut and fresh through to a clean, stony close. Serve it well chilled and enjoy it through 2028. Winemaker Glenn Symons, a former pharmacist turned passionate vintner who purchased Lighthall in 2008 and built the winery from the ground up, crafts these wines with a hands-off philosophy that consistently earns national recognition, including a gold medal at the WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada. In a delightful quirk of the property, Lighthall is one of the very few wineries in all of Canada to produce its own sheep's milk cheese on site, carefully designed to pair with the estate's wines. Riesling food pairings: Vietnamese pho with fresh herbs and chili, butter chicken with basmati rice and naan, pork carnitas tacos with pickled red onion and lime.
