White Wine
Domaine Pré Baron Sauvignon Blanc 2024, Touraine, Loire A.O.C., France: Domaine Pré Baron's Sauvignon Blanc from the Touraine appellation in the Loire Valley is a vivacious, light-bodied white crafted from sustainably farmed grapes, arriving at just 12% alcohol for an effortlessly refreshing, food-friendly sip that is best served well chilled. The nose leaps from the glass with lifted notes of white currant, fresh-cut meadow herbs, and bergamot, while the palate is driven by a crackling, mouthwatering acidity threaded with flavours of juicy nectarine, crushed green herbs, and a strikingly flinty, sea-spray minerality on the finish. Domaine Pré Baron is committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture in the Touraine, one of the Loire's most celebrated growing areas for Sauvignon Blanc, where the cool climate and limestone-clay soils lend this variety its signature nervousness and precision. This wine was awarded a Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2025, one of the wine world's most competitive international judging events, a remarkable achievement for a wine at this price point. Drink it now through 2030, pairing it with a warm grilled halibut taco topped with mango slaw, where the wine's citrusy snap and herbal edge bring every layer of the dish into focus, or try it alongside a light linguine with clams and fresh parsley, where the wine's briny minerality echoes the ocean sweetness of the shellfish beautifully. Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: field greens, grilled seafood, crab cakes. Drink: 2026 - 2030 107128 12% XD 750 mL $21.95 Score: 91/100. April 2026. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
Red Wine
Peter Zemmer Pinot Noir 2022, Südtirol Alto Adige D.O.C., Italy: Peter Zemmer's Pinot Noir Riserva from Südtirol Alto Adige is a refined, Alpine expression of Burgundy's most temperamental grape, grown at the estate's high-altitude Vigna Kofl vineyard perched at over 1,000 metres above sea level in the Dolomites. The nose is delicate yet layered, offering dried cranberry, wild strawberry, and a whisper of dried herbs, with a subtle undercurrent of clove and earthy forest floor adding intrigue. On the palate it is medium-bodied and silky, with finely knit tannins, lovely freshness, and a savory, barrel-kissed depth that carries through to a long, focused finish. It is bone dry and best served slightly below room temperature, with cellaring potential of 6 to 8 years ahead. Third-generation winemaker Peter Zemmer, who co-crafts the wines alongside Alberto Postal, leads an estate founded in 1928 that spans nearly 800 metres of elevation change between its lowest and highest vineyards, one of the most dramatic altitude ranges of any single producer in all of Alto Adige. Pinot Noir food pairings: roasted duck legs with cherry and thyme sauce, mushroom and truffle risotto with Parmigiano, pork tenderloin with a balsamic reduction and roasted beets.
