Dessert Wine

Hidalgo La Gitana En Rama Manzanilla Sherry, Jerez D.O., Spain: Hidalgo La Gitana En Rama Manzanilla Sherry from Jerez reveals enticing aromas of roasted hazelnut, lemon zest, sourdough bread, and sea spray with whispers of chamomile and white pepper. Dry and medium-bodied with crisp, mouth-watering acidity, it flows across the palate with intense umami character before finishing with persistent mineral notes and warming brightness. Serve it well chilled or cellar it through 2035. Fermín Hidalgo, eighth-generation owner and winemaker, crafts this unfiltered, unfined expression bottled directly from cask using only 35 of the solera's 1,000-liter barrels for this Spring 2023 release, continuing the family legacy established in 1792 when founder José Pantaleón Hidalgo purchased a small storage facility from his father-in-law near the Guadalquivir River in the seaside town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and the name "La Gitana" honors a flamenco dancer known for her beauty who sold the wine at her Málaga bar in the late 19th century. Pair this vibrant sherry with grilled prawns drizzled with garlic butter where the wine's oceanic notes complement the sweet, briny shellfish, or enjoy it with fried calamari and lemon as the crisp acidity cuts through the richness beautifully. Manzanilla Sherry food pairings: grilled prawns with garlic butter, fried calamari with lemon, Marcona almonds and jamón ibérico. Red Wine

Emiliana Novas Carmenère 2024, Colchagua Valley D.O., Chile: Emiliana Novas Gran Reserva Carmenère offers vibrant aromas of cassis, dried lavender and hints of toasted almond. It's dry and medium-to-full bodied with a supple texture. Serve it at room temperature with grilled game sausages seasoned with fennel where the wine's herbal notes complement the spice while its polished tannins balance the richness, or cellar it through 2030. Consulting winemaker Alvaro Espinoza pioneered organic and biodynamic viticulture in Chile, converting Emiliana to 100% organic farming in 2001 and making it the world's largest organic winery. Emiliana was voted Winery of the Year in 2016 by Wines of Chile and became the first Chilean company to achieve Regenerative Organic Certification in 2022. This versatile wine also pairs beautifully with meat and rice stuffed bell peppers in tomato sauce, where the wine's generous fruit echoes the sauce while its fresh acidity cuts through the dish's satisfying richness. Carmenère food pairings: gourmet burgers from the grill, grilled game sausages, meat and rice stuffed bell peppers. Drink: 2026 - 2030 30996 13.5% XD 750 mL $17.95 Score: 91/100. March 2026. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
