Note: This batch of wine reviews is not part of the bi-weekly Vintages Releases. Instead, it's a collection of wines outside the Vintages section in store (general list) or wines sent to me directly from wineries that may not yet be available in liquor stores. Click on the Winery or Wine Agency link to get more info.

Please note that our reviews are based on a variety of sources: samples sent to our team, those we purchase in store, tasting events, those tasted in restaurants and while traveling domestically and internationally.

Other Wines/Drinks

El Dorado 12 Year Old Rum, Guyana: The El Dorado 12-Year-Old Rum is pure decadence with aromas of caramelized toffee, molasses, and a hint of dark spice. I’d pair it with island delight – imagine jerk pork ribs caramelized on the grill, the sweetness of the meat mingling with smoky char, served with a side of grilled pineapple. The rum’s deep caramel tones balance perfectly with the sweet heat of the ribs. Most rums put the year of the oldest vintage in their blend. But El Dorado puts the youngest, so you’re tasting a rum that’s much more complex from blending vintages that are older than 12 years. The El Dorado distillery has been making rum since the 17th century and has the world’s oldest stills, like their double wood and coffee wood stills. The blends have been perfected over hundreds of years and are still done in small batches. This is not factory-scale rum but rather a handcrafted, artisanal rum made from the finest demerara sugar. Red Wine

Poderi dal Nespoli Prugneto Romagna DOC Sangiovese Superiore 2022, Emilia-Romagna, Italy: A vibrant and expressive red with aromas of ripe cherry, red plum, and violet, complemented by subtle notes of spice, leather, and dried herbs. It’s medium-bodied, dry, and balanced on the palate, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and 13.5% alcohol creating a smooth, harmonious finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature to highlight its red fruit and savoury charm. Fascinating fact: The Nespoli estate, founded in 1929, has been family-run for four generations, and Prugneto takes its name from a single vineyard known for producing Sangiovese with exceptional purity and finesse. This wine will age gracefully for 4–6 years, developing added depth and softness. This classic Sangiovese embodies the rustic charm of autumn with its cherry fruit core wrapped in earthy undertones. The wine shows beautiful balance and complexity that makes your mouth water when you pair it with heartier fall fare. The Poderi dal Nespoli winery that produces Prugneto has been family owned since 1929. The Ravaioli family is respected for their sustainable winery design and winemaking from vineyard to glass. With the fourth generation in charge, they’ve clearly cracked the code on “family business without family drama.” Sangiovese Superiore food pairings: mushroom risotto or pasta bolognese.. Drink: 2025 - 2028 31809 13.5% D 750 mL $20.00 Score: 90/100. December 2025. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
