Trius Red The Icon 2017, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: A consistently great Niagara red wine blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec grapes. Aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels. Aromas of black plum, blackcurrant, dark berries, smoke, mocha and dark spice. Pair with grilled meats. Decant 1 hour. 13th Street Gamay, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Wow, this is a mouth-watering, brilliant Gamay Noir from Niagara wine country. Smoky, bright cherry and pepper spice aromas on the nose, dry, medium-bodied with bright dark cherry, meaty, cracked pepper fresh herb flavours on the palate. Pair with well-marbled grilled meats. Gamay food pairings: grilled salmon, antipasto plate, meaty tomato based pasta, roasted turkey. Tawse Growers Blend Pinot Noir 2016, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Pale, brilliant cherry in the glass, mouth-watering and ripe raspberry, cherry flavours and spicy on the palate. Great acidity for foot. Pair with lamb kebabs. Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled lamb sirloin with cocoa rub, veal chops, grilled duck sausages, grilled pork tenderloin with cauliflower purée and cherry compote. Henry of Pelham Baco Noir 2018, Niagara Escarpment, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: A gorgeous deep violet hue in the glass, with aromas of fleshy ripe blackberry, dark cherry and smoke. Full-bodied, and smooth. Pair with a grilled steak and good friends. Baco Noir food pairings: aged cheddar, game meats, beef with horseradish or mustard, spicy food or the startling yet remarkably harmonious pairing of strawberries with black berry.
