France

Calmel & Joseph Villa Blanche Chardonnay 2019, Igp Pays D’Oc, Languedoc-Roussillon, France: It's little wonder that this wine won gold at the World Chardonnay Competition, yet it's so affordably priced. A terrific white wine from southern France that offers crisp minerality and refreshment, unusual for Chardonnay these days. Lots of lime-bright acidity for food, yet there's also an underlying richness and fullness to the wine that is mouth-filling and delicious! Very versatile with food, from fresh seafood to roast chicken or pork chops. Drink: 2020 - 2024 375071 13.5% XD 750 mL $17.95 Score: 90/100. December 2020. Best Value White Wine Full Review Add to Shopping Cart

Gérard Bertrand Languedoc Syrah Grenache 2017, Languedoc A.P., France: A robust southern French red wine blend of Syrah and Grenache grapes, with vines planted closer to the Mediterranean sea and therefore there are more spice accents in the finished wine along with red berries and pepper. There are actually 5 sub-climates and more than 50 different grapes used in varying blends. Compare that to the 5 grapes used in Bordeaux. There are also 8 different and distinctive winds that blow through the vines here as compared to one in the Rhone, the Mistral. Pair with steak and hamburgers. Syrah Grenache food pairings: veal chops in creamy white wine sauce, veal schnitzel, Osso Buco, veal liver and olives in rose sauce.
