Zuccardi Q Malbec 2018, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina: A juicy Malbec produced from grapes sourced form the Altamira and Chacayes in Argentina. Love the ripe blackberry, blueberry aromas joined by ripe black plum, spicy and slightly smoky finish. A portion of the grapes were whole-clustered fermented in concrete tanks with a portion of the wine juice aged in previous-use oak barrels. Nicely done and easy to enjoy now. Carmen Gran Reserva Syrah 2018, Colchagua Valley D.O., Chile: A juicy and intense Syrah rich with dark cherry, cold tea, earthy violets and pepper spice flavours on the palate. The south facing slopes of the winery's Penasco vineyard are mainly formed by granite soils which act like a sponge and regulate the water delivered to the vines, reducing vine vigour thereby concentrating the flavour of the fruit. The Apalta region of Chile benefits from warm days and mild night which accentuates the spicy and dark floral notes in the wine. The Foreign Affair Winery Riesling 2013, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: The Foreign Affair 2013 Riesling is off-dry, medium-bodied, mouth-watering with flinty, apple butter, lemony-lime zest on the palate and an incredible mineral backbone. Susana Balbo Signature Torrontés 2018, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina: From Susana Balbo's an oaked Torrontés that tastes more like a Viognier, probably because it was fermented in new French oak barrels. Not only that, wine grapes were hand-harvested and macerated with dry ice for 6 hours retaining fruit freshness. Fragrant with white florals, ripe melon, soft orange, pink grapefruit, lime, slightly herbal with spicy flavours on the palate and finishing with a salty tang. Nicely done. Lawson's Dry Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Produced by Ross and Barbara Lawson who have been grape growers since 1980, and winemakers since 1992. This winery is part of the Family of Twelve, a group of a dozen artisanal wineries, six of which are from the North Island and six from the South Island, that was founded in 2005. This vibrant white wine was barrel-fermented in the Marlborough wine region. Look for herbal-grassy notes, mouth-watering acidity and a lime citrus lift on this juicy SB briefly barrel-aged for added creaminess and finesse.
