Medium plus in body, lightly oaked, with notes of white peach, green apple and citrus. This "Medaille D'Or" winning wine is a great representation of a classic Chardonnay from the Macconais in southern Burgunday at an affordable price. Enjoy with herb roasted chicken as we did, or most seafood dishes. Jeff Osborne

A crisp dry Savagnin with a bouquet of herbs which carries through to the pallet. Fresh, & natural with clear notes of dill, some minerality, and a nice long finish. Though in its fun traditional bottle, this wine style is a world away from the "Vin Jaune" Savagnin wines from the Jura region of eastern France where this grape hails from. Typically heavily oxidized and often aged under flor yeast quite reminiscent of sherry, it's quite interesting to evaluate and enjoy the natural expression of Savagnin. Pairings include Ontario Pickerel, any fresh summer salad with a vinaigrette based dressing, or enjoy on its own with family and old friends as we did. Note the wine reviewed was the 2012 vintage purchased winery direct, while the one currently available in the LCBO is the 2010 vintage. Jeff Osborne

Clear light gold in appearance, with typical lemon and green apples on the nose. An exciting creamy palate of cantelope melon, peach, and apples. A great example of a quality classic white burgundy with a very long finish. Pair with barbeque chicken as we did or a rich white sauce pasta dish. Jeff Osborne www.bcwineschool.com

A fantastic bargain from an appellation famous for high quality! This wine is quite crisp and fresh, rounded out by a creamy texture from having been aged "Sur Lie" for 2 years (aged on the dead yeast after fermentation). Notes of Candied lemon, plum, and honey in addition to the classic yeasty aroma. Pair with Seafood paella as we did, or any fresh seafood as they would do in the Loire Valley. A great example of a young fruity Chianti DOCG wine. Plenty of red fruit on the nose, with sour cherry candy, and blackberry jam on the pallet, smooth tannin's and some great richness. A perfect pairing for Pizza night.
