Naramata, Okanagan Valley Nichol 9 Mile Red 2013

Michel scored this wine: 90/100

A unique blend of Pinot Noir and Austrian grape St. Laurent, this small production wine from Naramata Bench hits in all the right places for cool climate wine. After decanting, juicy cherry, raspberry and baking spice lead the way with silky smooth tannins giving way to a lingering rocky, mineral driven earthy note. The bright acidity makes for great pairing with pork, chicken, and tomato based dishes.

A unique wine with character! A blend the lesser known grapes Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, and Macabeo, this is an affordable wine to wow your wine nerd friends with! On the nose, notes of pear, meyer lemon and smokey minerality notes prevail. On the palate the wine is dry and med-full bodied, with flavours of peach, grapefruit, lime and smokey earth notes. From the Southern France AOC of Côtes du Roussillon, this wine exhibits serious character and is an extremely food friendly wine. Heavenly with any smoked white fish!

Michel scored this wine: 89/100

From the under appreciated white grape of Argentina, Torrontes. This wine is a dry, crisp white with notes of tropical fruit, zesty lemon and lime, grapefruit, floral rose notes, and lots of minerality. Bracing acidity makes it extremely food friendly. An expressive and excellent value wine, perfect for those late Summer days n nights. Blend of 95% Torrontes 5% Viognier.

A cult wine produced by an excellent organic/biodynamic Canadian producer, the 2011 Baco Noir is a dark, lush red , with ripe tannins. On the palate, blackberries, dark cherries, and blueberries lead the way with notes of tobacco, chocolate, cedar and vanilla sneaking in. A nice lengthy finish. Aged in French oak for 22 months. Full bodied yet soft and supple, this wine will pair wonderfully with game meats, bbq hamburgers or a grilled vegetable terrine.

A lush and creamy red blend from the Symington Family (Dow, Warres, Grahams) Known for their ports, this dry red is a blend of grapes from their own vineyards in the Douro Valley: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca. A spectacular value, this wine shows an abundance of ripe plum, black current, dark cherries and blackberries on the palate supported by floral notes of violets and lavender. A silky, lingering finish showcases lush mocha notes with ripe tannins and a beautiful acidity to balance all that fruit. An amazing food wine, try it with BBQ meats! Highly Recommended
