Reif Estate Winery Riesling 2019

Niagara River, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada

Lori scored this wine: 90/100

This is a great value Riesling from Niagara-on-the-Lake! Off dry with 12.5 g/l sugar - that is well balanced with crisp acidity. Made from a unique blend of 3 clones - 2 from Germany and 1 Alsatian which adds to it's complexity. Aromas and flavours of peach and citrus. Chill and enjoy on your patio this summer on it's own or pair with your next Thai takeout order! Tasted May 23/2020

Reif Estate Winery Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Niagara River, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada

A delicious layered wine from the Niagara-on-the-Lake region. 2017 had ideal growing conditions and this wine is a great example of Ontario Cabernet Sauvignon done well. Opaque, deep purple in colour with aromas of smoke, leather and dark fruit. Flavours of blackberry and cassis with smooth tannins and soft acidity. 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/l sugar this is a dry red from our own backyard (Ontario) that would give most California Cabs a run for their money. Pick up a bottle for your next bbq and throw some steaks on the grill. Tasted May 23/2020

An interesting Gewurztraminer from the southernmost wine growing region in Germany. Aromas of cooked apple and honey. Off dry (19 g/l residual sugar) with flavours of stewed apples and spice. Balanced acidity and sugar with a short apple finish. Pair with Asian cuisine. Tasted May 23/2020

Centenario

Bodega Toro Winery Centenario Malbec 2019

Mendoza, Argentina

Lori scored this wine: 88/100

In Argentina the “Asado” barbecue is a cultural tradition of slowly grilling meat over hot coals. The result is delicious tender smoky flavoured meat. This Malbec from the Mendoza region is the perfect pairing. Medium bodied with blackberry and plum on the nose and palate. Medium soft tannins and an underlying smoke that enhances the flavours of bbq’d meats. I paired my bottle with a smoked beef brisket done on my Big Green Egg and a holiday long weekend. It doesn’t get much better than that! Tasted May 16/2020
