Vinessens Sein 2011

Alicante D.O., Spain

Lori scored this wine: 90/100

I'm always on the lookout for this wine when it gets released in Vintages. For the price it's a great "everyday" wine to have in your cellar. 60% Monastrell and 40% Syrah from the Alicante region of Spain, it's a great "go to" wine when you are looking for something for supper or to take as a hostess gift. At 15% alcohol you would expect it to be a lot heavier in the mouth than it is. Definitely full bodied but there is a great balance of acidity and fruit to counter balance. Aromas of dark fruit, cassis and oak. Flavours of blackberry and a peppery bite from the Syrah. Now 8 years old the tannins have smoothed out and all elements are in harmony. I think it's quite drinkable now but would still cellar for another few years. Pair with bbq'd hamburgers, steak or any roasted meats. It's a hearty wine to pair with hearty fare! Limited Edition M de Minuty

Ashley Mary Limited Edition M de Minuty Rosé 2018

Côtes De Provence, Provence A.P., France

Lori scored this wine: 91/100

Who doesn't love a Rosé from Provence? This is a lovely blend of Grenache and Cinsault that makes your mind wander to France and sunshine. Dry - 4 g/l of sugar - the way a Rosé should be! Aromas and flavours of white stone fruit; peach pear and floral notes. Light bodied with fresh acidity. Long fruit finish that makes you want to refill your glass - again and again and again. This isn't just your typical patio wine - I would drink it year round! Tasted November 17/2019

Lori scored this wine: 88/100

California meets Veneto in this DOC Prosecco by Chloe. A great starter to any social function - baby shower? Aromas of ripe apples and rose petals. Green apple on the palate. Medium perlage with a medium finish. Tasted November 17/2019

Benziger Family Winery Pinot Noir 2018

Monterey County, California, United States

Lori scored this wine: 91/100

This is my kind of Pinot Noir from California - more subtle and not in your face. This one hails from Monterey and is certified sustainable. Aromas of cranberry, beetroot and raspberry - none overly ripe. Smooth tannins and nicely balanced acidity. Medium body with flavours of cranberry and spice. A perfect pairing for that Sunday night roast pork flavoured with rosemary and a cranberry compote on the side. Tasted November 17/2019

Vinyes Velles Priorat

Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles Priorat 2015

Priorat, Spain

Lori scored this wine: 93/100

Elegance in a bottle! This is an old vine blend of Carignane (70%) and Grenache (30%) from Priorat, Spain. The price may seem high but if you see what goes into making this gorgeous wine it makes it seem like a steal. Grown on steep vineyards the grapes are hand picked and then sorted berry by berry and then transferred by gravity to tanks for fermentation. Ferrer Bobet practices strict organic viticulture with no insecticides, fungicides and herbicides, Colour is opaque . Aromas are complex; cherry, spice and vanilla and a vein of underlying chocolate. Well integrated tannins with balanced acidity. Gorgeous flavours of ripe sweet cherry and white pepper. A long finish of red fruit and oak. I"m not sure I'd pair this wine with anything - it was delicious all on it's own! Tasted November 17/2019
