To say this is a favourite sparkling of mine from Kew Vineyards on the Beamsville Bench in Niagara is an understatement. I have been known to purchase it by the case! This 100% Chardonnay (hence the Blanc de Blanc) sparkling spent 6 months in a barrel before it went through secondary fermentation in the bottle. It then spent 4 1/2 years on the lees. I'm particular to dry sparkling and this fits the bill at 3 g/l of sugar. Pale straw yellow with a fine perlage. Aromas of pear and brioche and vanilla. On the palate there is brioche again as well as green apple, toasted nuts and citrus. The fruit and acidity are nicely balanced and there is a long, mouth watering finish of lemon and lime. My favourite pairings with this wine are anything truffle - truffle chips, truffle gouda, truffle risotto!

Definitely a Pinot Grigio to try! For years Pinot Grigio had a bad rap as an insipid, bulk made, bland white wine. Not so in the case of this beauty from Kew Vineyards on the Beamsville Bench. Very aromatic with notes of white stone fruit, pear, mango and lemon. There's some heft to this white which indicates to me it's gone through some malolactic fermentation (tart malic acid in wine converts to a softer and creamier lactic acid). Make no mistake, there is still some acidity but it's not the mouth watering kind and it's supported by a mineral backbone. Flavours of lemon, grapefruit and nectarine. This wine paired nicely with a triple cream brie cheese! Tasted June 17/2021

A big 100% Cabernet Franc wine from Kew Vineyards located in the Niagara area in Beamsville! Very dry at 3 g/l of sugar and the alcohol comes in hot at 16% Given the age, there is an evident garnet brown tinged rim. Made in the appassimento method the grapes were dried before fermenting. The wine spent some extra time in neutral oak as well as longer bottle aging and wasn't released until 5 years after harvest. Aromas of very ripe blackberry and cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco and cloves. The tannins were still a bit grippy on the palate and the acidity still very evident. Flavours of more ripe dark fruit and some black pepper. The pairing was some bbq'd ribs which held up to the body and the sauce paired nicely with the fruit and tertiary flavours of the wine. Tasted June 17/2021

A delicious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Very aromatic and complex. Ripe black fruit, tobacco, smoke and some spice on the nose. Flavours of blackberry and cedar. Soft tannins coat your mouth with a long rich fruit finish. Tasted June 17/2021

This is the third vintage of sparkling Riesling made by Kew, and I've bought it each year! This is made in the traditional method, however it is only left on the lees for 11 months. This short time gives it crisp acidity and fresh fruit. Aromas of citrus and green apple, with grapefruit pith, and white stone fruit and mineral on the palate. A medium to long mouth watering lemon finish! Tasted June 17/2021
