Probably the Italians will argue the point, because they like to, but I\u2019m okay with \u201cdebating\u201d my Italian friends.\u00a0 However, lost in this is the role that Spain plays in Old World wines.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish lay claim to two great varietals \u2013 Garnacha and Monestral \u2013 and interestingly, the French lay claim to the same grapes calling them Grenache and Mourvedre. However, it\u2019s the Spanish approach to this debate that in my mind defines their approach to wine.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish don\u2019t care about the French claims, they don\u2019t care about French wines, and they don\u2019t care if anybody cares.\u00a0 Wine is not there to argue about, debate, or even over analyze (which must seem absurd to the French).\u00a0 Wine is there to drink and it\u2019s either good or it\u2019s bad. The Spaniards would rather get back to watching soccer \u2013 where there is no debate, as reigning Euro and World Cup Champions, that they are better than their French counterparts.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/winepicks\/wine\/red-guitar-old-vine-tempranillo-garnacha-2006\/2262\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7377\" title=\"Red Guitar\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Red-Guitar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"71\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Try the Spanish version of C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/winepicks\/wine\/red-guitar-old-vine-tempranillo-garnacha-2006\/2262\"><strong>Red Guitar<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 rich in Garnacha blended with Tempranillo \u2013from the general LCBO list.
