In the center of the room was a very large and beautifully dressed\u2026 dining room table!<\/p>\n<p>I was at the right place: the long-awaited Primum Familiae Vini (PFV) luncheon. The PFV is an international association of some of the world\u2019s finest wine producing families from France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. It was created in 1992 by Robert Drouhin and Miguel Torres as they strolled through a vineyard and discussed the intricacies of their craft and the challenges of running a family company.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-place-setting.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-23404\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-place-setting.jpg\" alt=\"Primum Familiae Vini place setting\" width=\"297\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-place-setting.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-place-setting-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 297px) 100vw, 297px\" \/><\/a>Their goal was to create an association of winemaking families where members could exchange their experiences of the wine trade, gain insight into future trends, and explore solutions to their business challenges. Pol Roger Champagne is a member of the PFV; I accepted and took a sip without hesitation.\u00a0 My taste buds exploded. I knew the wines and the food would be something out of a dream today, but I never imagined sipping on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/98-cuv-winston-churchill-champ-pol-roger-2002\/216698\"><strong>Pol Roger Champagne, Cuv\u00e9e Winston Churchill 2002<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; but here I was.<\/p>\n<p>We were asked to take our respective places at the table as an array of decadent and perfectly paired food and wines were introduced, one after the other, as a member of each family went up to the podium and spoke.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-Row-of-bottles-2.jpg\"><img 2010<\/strong><\/a>\u201d<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-chateau-Mouton-Rothschild.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-23408\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-chateau-Mouton-Rothschild.jpg\" alt=\"Primum Familiae Vini chateau href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/chablis-grand-cru-les-clos-joseph-drouhin-2012\/216704\"><strong>Les Clos 2012<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, a Drouhin Grand Cru Chablis and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/egon-muller-riesling-kabinett-1994\/216720\"><strong>Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett 1994<\/strong><\/a>\u201d from Egon Muller.<\/p>\n<p>Then, a pasta dish with rabbit confit, served with Torres\u2019 \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/miguel-torres-mas-la-plana-cabernet-sauvignon-2010\/217005\"><strong>Mas La Plana 2010<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/sassicaia-tenuta-san-guido-sassicaia-bolgheri-sassicaia-2009\/110646\"><strong>Sassicaia 2009, Tenuta San Guido<\/strong><\/a>\u201d and Famille Perrin\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/perrin-and-fils-chateau-de-beaucastel-chateauneuf-du-pape-2005\/909\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Beaucastel 2005<\/strong><\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Braised bison short ribs were served next with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/solaia-antinori-toscana-igt-2007\/77681\"><strong>Antinori\u2019s \u201cSolaia 2007<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/chateau-mouton-rothschild-pauillac-1er-grand-cru-classe-2005\/195803\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Mouton Rothschild 2005<\/strong><\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/vega-sicilia-04-unico-vega-sicilia-2004\/214904\"><strong>Vega Sicilia Unico 2004<\/strong><\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-Cheese.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Vintage Port 1977<\/strong><\/a>\u201d by the Symington Family Estates.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Primum-Familiae-Vini-grahams-1977-Port.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full savoured each exquisite bite and sip with pure delight. Wines that truly represent that illusive, abstract, but yet so omnipresent \u201cterroir\u201d concept; an idea that a specific geographic place, its soils, climate and the unique human hand could deliver an exclusive wine that could only be produced from those very elements and not duplicated in others.<\/p>\n<p>As each family member spoke, commonalities between them became evident. In fact, there was a camaraderie, a strong sense of pride in their roots, dedication to their product, an intense respect for each other, deeply ingrained family values, and this palpable passion that united them in their fervent and sincere desire to craft a superb and impeccable product.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 suivre!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Mymi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-23411\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Mymi.jpg\" alt=\"Mymi\" width=\"130\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a>Mymi is a sommelier, singer-songwriter, musician and voice-over artist with a serious and contagious passion for wine, food and music.<\/p>\n<p>When asked why she is so enthusiastic about wine, she replies; &#8220;Wine connects so many elements of life that I absolutely love!
