It\u2019s not often you get invited to an exclusive and intimate lunch with a talented winemaker visiting all the way from France, but we were lucky enough to do just that this past week.<\/p>\n

The Novotel on the Esplanade was the setting for this lovely event and they put out a great spread to match with the wines, with lots of cheese and seafood. They were kind enough to accommodate Priya, who\u2019s a vegan, by having some vegetable antipasto and green salad along with mixed nuts and fruits.<\/p>\n

\n\"2<\/a>We sampled the 2013 and 2014 vintages of Remy Pannier\u2019s Muscadet Sevre et Maine, Sauvignon Blanc and Ros\u00e9 d\u2019Anjou.<\/p>\n

Pierre spoke of how they aim to create wines \u201cthat are fresh, crisp\u2026at a very good price point\u201d and at under $20 for all the wines we tried, they have succeeded in that goal.<\/p>\n

It was fascinating tasting the two vintages of each bottle. We saw how 2014 was an \u2018easier\u2019 year because there was more rain and better conditions for the grapes. This reflected in wines that were \u2018more expressive\u2019 (to use winespeak) on the nose\u2014you could smell so much more than with the 2013s.
\n\"2<\/a>Both vintages of the Ros\u00e9 were gorgeous, lush and crisp with just the right touch of sweetness without being \u2018sweet\u2019. Interestingly they mentioned how 50% of their ros\u00e9 sales are outside of the summer months.<\/p>\n

Ros\u00e9 used to be considered such a hot weather wine but now it\u2019s gaining popularity year-round, and across both genders! As Alex says, \u2018real men drink ros\u00e9\u2019!<\/p>\n
