And now that Thanksgiving is over, my next favourite festive event is here: Halloween. If you\u2019re looking to add some scrumptious to your scary, I have a recipe that will do just the trick (or treat).<\/p>\n<p>These <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dairygoodness.ca\/cheese\/all-you-need-is-cheese\/recipes\/grilled-polenta-bites-with-friulano\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Grilled Polenta Bites with Friulano<\/strong><\/a> are a simple and easy snack for you to make just before you and your little ones head out for a night of spooky fun.<\/p>\n<p>They are a Canadian take on an Italian classic, with a delicious Canadian Friulano cheese. If you\u2019ve never tried it before, it\u2019s a smooth and creamy cheese that mixes well with many things.<\/p>\n<p>Paired with polenta, it brings out the subtle corn flavour and makes for a hearty and delicious snack.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to pair this yummy snack with a little vino, try them with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/wine-reviews\/mission-hill-five-vineyards-cabernet-merlot-2011\/205130\"><strong>Mission Hill Five Vineyards Cabernet Merlot<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an extra dry, robust wine with notes of dark fruit, tarry, and smoky oak. Happy Halloween!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dairygoodness.ca\/cheese\/all-you-need-is-cheese\/recipes\/grilled-polenta-bites-with-friulano\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Grilled Polenta Bites with Friulano Recipe<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Mission-Hill-Five-Vineyards-Cabernet-Merlot-2011-October-2014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-20479\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Mission-Hill-Five-Vineyards-Cabernet-Merlot-2011-October-2014.jpg\" alt=\"Mission Hill Five Vineyards Cabernet Merlot 2011 October, 2014\" width=\"64\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2 cups (500 mL) water<br \/>\n\u00be cup (175 mL) medium cornmeal (polenta)<br \/>\nSalt and freshly ground pepper<br \/>\n1 \u00be cups (425 mL) Canadian Friulano, grated<br \/>\n1 tbsp (15 mL) melted butter<br \/>\n24 sub-dried tomatoes in oil, cut in half<br \/>\n48 pitted olives (black, green, or both)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.<\/p>\n<p>Add cornmeal, season with salt and pepper and cook on medium-low heat until the cornmeal thickens and becomes creamy.<\/p>\n<p>Add Friulano and let melt. Stir.<\/p>\n<p>Spread in an 8\u201d (20 cm) square baking pan lined with parchment paper. Cool completely at room temperature.<\/p>\n<p>Preheat over to broil.<\/p>\n<p>Unmould the polenta. Cut into 48 cubes and place on a baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and grill in the oven for 3-4 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Garnish each cube with a sun-dried tomato half and an olive speared on a pick.
