The staff are friendly, ready to talk shop and most importantly, excited to have us taste their wines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">While their 2011 Small lot Chardonnay is surprisingly fresh and fruit forward with notes of lemon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Kristy-Gardener.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16881\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Kristy-Gardener.jpg\" alt=\"Kristy Gardener\" width=\"139\" height=\"143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Kristy-Gardener.jpg 139w, https:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Kristy-Gardener-35x35.jpg 35w, https:\/\/www.nataliemaclean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Kristy-Gardener-125x128.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 139px) 100vw, 139px\" \/><\/a>and spice, and the 2011 Winemaker&#8217;s Red &#8211; a blend of cab sauv, cab merlot and cab franc &#8211; is well balanced, juicy, bold and smooth, it&#8217;s their 2006 Small Lot Wood Post Riesling that really impresses me.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t your ordinary Riesling. A large degree of minerality greets my nose while the round mouth feel seduces my taste buds with off-dry notes of citrus, stone fruit and a clean, acidic finish.<\/p>\n<p>While staying true to the classic qualities of Riesling, the 2006 Small Lot Wood Post Riesling is a refreshing spin on this grape varietal. The last time I had an Ontario fortified wine was probably while at university. It left a lasting impression!<\/p>\n<p>I also tried A Foreign Affair&#8217;s White Ripasso Reisling for the first time. Very interesting! I want to put it in the same category as sauternes and vino santo, something as a dessert wine.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll bet it would be killer with biscotti. It was definitely great with blue cheese and nuts.
