It\u2019s that time of year again \u2013 no, not spring \u2013 wine show season!\u00a0 OK, it is spring too, but we\u2019re here to talk wine.<\/p>\n
Wine shows can be overwhelming \u2013 so much great wine \u2013 so little time. That’s why it’s important to have a plan of action.\u00a0 Now your plan should just be a plan \u2013 it isn\u2019t carved in stone, but really more like a place to start.<\/p>\n
First \u2013 and this is a difficult realization \u2013 you must realize you will not be able to try every wine in the room.\u00a0 Even if you spit (and trust me, some of them you will want to spit out), know your limits, please.\u00a0 Also, make sure you have a safe way to get home: public transit or a designated driver.<\/p>\n
Most wine shows will offer a lovely brochure upon entering the venue, detailing who is participating and which wines they’re pouring.\u00a0 Take the time to look through the book and see which yummy treats are available for tasting.\u00a0 My suggestion is that if you see something on the list that you have been dying to try, proceed directly to that booth because if you wait all evening, chances are that there might not be any of that particular gem left (especially if it is something really sought after). As well, your taste buds won\u2019t be able to appreciate it after sipping numerous other wines.<\/p>\n Next suggestion: Taste new products. They don\u2019t have to be new to market, but new to you.\u00a0 This is your perfect opportunity to try a full range of wines without having to invest in full bottles.\u00a0 Really, what is the point of going to a wine show and drinking only what you would normally drink at home?\u00a0 Come on, be adventurous!<\/p>\n Super Important: Don\u2019t forget to stay hydrated \u2013 yes, I mean water. Oh and don\u2019t forget to eat something \u2013 otherwise you might not feel so great the next morning!<\/p>\n Last and most IMPORTANT: If you see something that intrigues you \u2013 try it \u2013 even if it isn\u2019t on your \u201cmust try list.\u201d\u00a0 Some products are only in market for shows or a limited timeframe.
