Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Touriga Nacional might seem like an unfamiliar varietal to see blended with a Bordelais grape, but you may start to see it happen more and more thanks to climate change. As The yearly temperature in Bordeaux continues to increase, seeking balance with overripe Merlot and Cab becomes harder and harder. The classic varietals won't disappear, but vigneron's are starting to find a new room-mate for the classic blend.
The colour is purple - red at the rim.
Aromas are extremely floral and firm. The smell foreshadows the sturdy structure. Violet, charcoal, loamy earth, plum, fig, and ink.
The flavours are juicy, but the spice and tannic nature really overpower it. Some plum, blackberry, cassis, and apple skin are accompanied by flavours of tobacco, anise, and charred wood.
It seems this wine is not ready to show its full potential. It's good now, but it could be better, once the tannins ease off and the oak integrates a bit. Give it another 2-3 years and enjoy it for another ten. Pair it with barbecued mushroom and elk.
