Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby in colour with deep aromas of dried herbs, old leather, and dried black cherry. The taste is quite balanced, with primarily a dried berry flavour. Lots of fairly grippy tannins and high acidity. In a few years this will be an extremely silky, well-balanced wine. For now, try it with hard cheeses, or rare, fatty meats or stew.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A sumptuous Barolo from Piedmont, Italy, with aromas and rich flavours of dark fruit, toffee, herbal hints and a touch of smoke. Full-bodied, velvety mouthfeel, firm tannins and long elegant finish. Will benefit from cellaring, up to 20 years.
Tasted Sept. 2016
Soil type: Distinguishes itself, from the geological point of view, as belonging to the formation of
Lequio with clayey-calcareous marl not very compact the Elveziano period. The slope of the
vineyards and their position sheltered from the winds, confirms the story of older people, ensuring
the presence of a microclimate more than ever favorable to the cultivation of Nebbiolo
Processing: Crushing and-stemming, long maceration with submerged cap 4-6 Weeks (Depending on the year)
Vinification: In stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures
Maturing Process: 6 months in stainless steel tanks
Aging: 24 months in barrels of Slavonian oak oversize.
Colors never overly intense, beautiful colors and very stable in fruity, full-bodied, with a very balanced presence of acids and tannins; this last They are important and slightly sweet. It 'a very long-lived wine that after a suitable aging acquires good race, very elegant, strong and remarkable minerality
