Mulderbosch Faithful Hound from Stellenbosch W.O. is a vegan-friendly, medium to full-bodied Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, opening with an enticing nose of dark cherry, crushed blackberry, orange zest, and a whisper of bittersweet cocoa. The palate is generous and plush, with polished tannins, ripe black fruit depth, a hint of dried herbs, and a long, savory finish that speaks clearly of Stellenbosch's ancient shale and granite soils. Serve it at room temperature and enjoy from 2026 onward, with the wine comfortably holding its structure through 2030. The Mulderbosch winemaking team crafts this blend from grapes sourced across multiple sites, from cooler parcels close to False Bay all the way to the richer soils of Bottelary, giving each variety the terroir it needs to shine. The wine's charming name honors a real dog who, after being left behind when his owner abandoned a cottage on the Mulderbosch farm, kept a loyal three-year vigil at the empty door, a story of devotion that has become as much a part of the winery's identity as the wine itself. Pour it alongside a rosemary and garlic roast leg of lamb, where the wine's dark fruit and earthy backbone will embrace the richness of the meat, or try it with a slow-braised beef stew over creamy mashed potatoes, letting the wine's plummy depth weave through every savory spoonful.

Food pairings: roast beef, turkey, pork tenderloin, coq au vin.
