Incredible depth and concentration of black fruit, smoke and spice flavour on the nose and palate for this full-bodied French red wine. This wine is a blend of classic grapes including Grenache 80%, Syrah 10% and Mouvedre 10%. Long finish inflected with dried herbs and graphite. Pair with roast beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

So what would it take for Stéphane Vedeau, the owner and winemaker at ‘La Ferme Du Mont’ in the Southern part of Les Côtes du Rhône to even be interested in purchasing a piece of land to add to his vineyard collection? In his words, he is “terroir-attracted” and looks for fresh minerality in the soil.
Not only do you find that fresh minerality in the wines that he carefully crafts but you also taste the land and that natural harmonious balance that he skillfully maintains through the winemaking process. His wines are all organic products, free of chemicals and pesticides, the fertilizers are organic in nature and he even uses ambient or natural yeasts to ferment the wines.
This 2011 Châteauneuf-Du-Pape is a classic GSM blend and the proportions are as follows: 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Of note, the Grenache in this wine hails from pre-phylloxera period so, old vines!
In the glass, it is a very deep purply red, extremely concentrated. The legs are thick and stain the inside of the glass.
On the nose, it starts a little subdued but becomes more expansive with air contact. There are aromas of dark chocolate, aged Balsamic vinegar, sweet ripe beets, dried sage and garrigue.
On the palate, it is velvety rich! Dry with the slightest touch of residual sugar and loads of very ripe blackberries, cherries and raspberries. Powerful wine with great tannin structure, beautifully balanced by mouth-watering acidity.
Stunning to drink now but be sure to save a few bottles in your cellar and keep enjoying over the next 10 years!
This wine screams for a rich slow braised beef dish with loads of sauce over garlicky parsnip purée!
