A creamy, full-bodied Chardonnay from the Arroyo Seco area in Monterey County. Fragrant with fresh pineapple, yellow plum and toasty on the nose. Crisp, clean with fresh pineapple, ripe red apple, lemon zest, baking spice flavours creamy and toasty on the palate.

Chardonnay food pairings: roast chicken, creamy pasta sauce dishes, grilled fish.

Reviews and Ratings

Alana L rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Made using classic Burgundy winemaking techniques (fermentation, both primary and malolactic, in French oak barrels; weekly lees stirring; ageing in oak barrels (46% new) on the lees for 14 months) this is a rich, creamy, toasty Chardonnay with ripe fruit (pineapple, peach, lemon, apple, pear) on the nose, toast and brioche on the palate with a ginger prickliness at the end. A balance of crispness and creaminess it’s full-bodied with a nice, rich finish.

I’d pair with sushi, creamy white fish with a tangy sauce or melty, baked Brie.

California leads the world in Chardonnay, its most planted variety and was the first in the world to bottle Chardonnay under varietal labeling, establishing the practice for all of the New World, and its unique clonal selections for the variety are now grown around the world.

Tasted as part of the "California Wine Month: Classics of California Chardonnay", an interactive panel discussion and tasting considering California’s classics of Chardonnay, its unique history, and its range of styles from different parts of the state; hosted by writer and speaker, Elaine Chukan Brown and California Wines and featuring panelists Ivo Jeramez, Director of Winemaking, Grgich Hills; Niki Wente, Fifth Generation Winemaker, Viticulture, Wente Vineyards and Kristen Barnhisel, Winemaker - White Wines, J.Lohr.

Cheers!
J. Lohr Arroyo Vista 2017 Chardonnay is produced from wine grapes grown on vines planted in gravelly soils in the cool, windy appellation of Monterey County and hand-harvested at night. The wine is both barrel-fermented and aged in oak. Dry, full-bodied with ripe tropical fruit, butterscotch, lemon curd and toasty oak spice flavours on the palate. So delish. Enjoy now with pineapple chicken. - Community Wine Reviews
