This is one of the most respected producers in the Roussillon region of southern France. This winery's vineyards are deeply influenced by the Mediterranean Sea, which also provide some of the oldest soils in France for the country. The wine is aged in large oak casks and demi muids (Languedoc traditional barrel of 600 litres) for 2 years. A full-bodied, chalky-dry red wine blend of Syrah and Grenache grapes, with Grenache adding extra plushness to the wine. Loads of blackberry, cassis, and other dark fruits and just enough toasty oak. Beautifully textured wine with a vivacious palate. This big red is a flagship wine for the Roussillon region. Good cellar candidate or pair with hearty meat dishes.

Food pairings: hamburger.

Reviews and Ratings

This southern French winery is located along the Mediterranean Sea and has its roots (literally) in some of the most ancient soils in France. They mature their wines for 24 months in large oak barrels. Their goal is to main balance and crispness in the wines. This one is a blend of Grenache Noir from the Catalan Hills of Roussillon along with Mourvèdre and high altitude Syrah. - Community Wine Reviews
