This is a terrific offering from Bertrand. I love the crushed rock and graphite profiles of wines from Saint Chinian. There's lots of blackberry, cherry and fruit pit at its core; along with herbs and dried flowers on the finish. It's slightly smoky. 92 Points.

Very spicy on the nose and a touch floral - almost like a Szechuan peppercorn. Tons of intense fruit - Fig, blackberry, currant, and a bit of smokey savoury leather. Excellent value on this wine from the south of France.

An elegant and intricate bouquet showing light plum, stewed strawberries, toasted hazelnuts and light whispers of smoke. Flavours show crisp strawberry leaves, soft cherry compote and rocky stoney minerals. Very well balanced all the way through, balanced acidity, body and tannins. Pair with pork tenderloin and medium bodied cheeses. 89 points - tasted May 6, 2018

Versatile! A good winter sipping wine or a good summer BBQ wine…
Presentation: The classic Gerard Bertrand look, easily recognizable
Appearance: Deep ruby
Nose: Medium nose with notes of red cherries, fennel, black pepper, with a hint of oak
Taste: Dry, medium body, medium-high acidity, medium tannins that have a bite the longer in the mouth the wine is, with notes of black pepper, dark fruit (cherries, plums), earth and wood
Finish: long, fruit and black pepper finish
Overall impression: This is an interesting, versatile wine. We can see this as sipping wine by the fire in the winter, and a good BBQ wine in the summer

compared side by side to their 2015 Syran/Grenache from Languedoc. This wine has more fruits, is more approachable, but less structure and finish. A great party wine that everyone will love and can pair easily with all kinds of food.

Dark ruby in colour with aromas of black cherry, black berry, black pepper and ink. It is full bodied with medium tannins and acidity and flavours of black cherries and spice. This will go well with grilled red meats or strong cheese. Tasted on May 6, 2018.
From Saint Chinian in the Midi, Gérard Bertrand (2015) Syrah and Mourvèdre red blend is well-priced under $20. With smooth blackberry liqueur and ripe cherries on the nose, this dry, rich red blend is even more so smooth on the palate.
