Only 12 years after being founded in 1998,Viña Ventisquero is the proud owner of prime vineyard land located in some of Chile's best wine regions. In the valleys of Colchagua, Casablanca and Coastal Maipo, we challenge our team ofviticulturalists to identify the best sites for each varietal we grow. In collaboration with established experts such as Aurelio Montes and Eduardo Silva, our mission is to produce distinctive wines from Chile that deliver the best quality and best value. Our goal is to accomplish this mission in an environmentally and socially responsible way.
All our wines are made from grapes grown in our own vineyards. We believe that this is the only way that we can control the quality of our fruit. We have an exceptional ability to match grape to vineyard site because of our extensive investment in soil mapping techniques, the results of which we have already seen in dramatic fashion in the Apalta vineyard. Similar soil mapping exercises were undertaken in Lolol and Casablanca, where our winemaking team continues to work closely with international terroir expert Professor Pedro Parra.
Head Wlnemaker Felipe Tosso joined Viña Ventisquero in 2000. After seriously considering alternate careers as atennis pro and classical guitarist,he elected to enter the wine business, describing it as "One of my big passions because it's more than work -it's a lifestyle." His winemaking travels have taken him to Napa, Sonoma, Argentina, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, back to Concha Y Toro in Chile and then finally to Viña Ventisquero. In 2003, Felipe began a close collaboration with John Duval in the production of icon wines Pangea and Vertice, a partnership which continues until the present.
